OneEighteen says :10/Apr/2007 08:25:37
A ship this size gets two pilots. My colleague was on watch. There's a reach of the channel where the rising sun lines up like this.

Tom Haymes says :10/Apr/2007 05:37:17
So, do you get the captain to steer the ship so that it lines up so nicely with the sun? Awesome again. Tom

Oldvidhead says :9/Apr/2007 18:38:03
Gorgeous!

OneEighteen says :9/Apr/2007 16:51:43
It's the anchorage just inside the jetties at Galveston. "Roads", as a nautical term, refers to a sheltered place for ships to anchor. It's a shortened form of "roadstead". Named for Simon Bolivar.

Aldor says :9/Apr/2007 16:26:15
