Port of Durban uses helicopters for almost all of their pilot on/off boarding. Great for the pilots, lousy for those trying to sleep on deck a sailboat under the flight path. Like you say: 24/7/365...
Incredible shot!

What I like about this:
The super crisp details of the tanker contrasted with the blurry field that it slides through, and then the other ship in the distance to drive home just how big this little setup really is.
Fantastic photo.
It was a spectacular scene. The camera got a lot, but the range of light your eye sees is much greater than what a camera or computer screen can display. In real life the fog close to the ship was squint-your-eyes bright and the other ship was in the shadow of a cloud.
I love how the light behind you flares in the fog and illuminates the snow white and red on the deck but still leaves the distance in twilight.

We have an assortment of station boats and shuttle boats. The only time we have to use a helicopter would be to take pilots off the last few ships to evacuate before a hurricane; after we've sent our boats to safety and it's too rough outside.
Another great tanker shot, you've captured the fog and clouds excellently.
How do you transport on and off ship, by pilot boat or do you sometimes get to use the heli-pad?
Wow... incredible capture. This is not something you see every day. This definitely shows that nature is a force to be reckoned with.
Those clouds and fog are scary and spectacular. Thanks for sharing!
