@ Jane - Speciba!

cmakin says :19/Jun/2008 15:59:26
All the years that I worked on a tug, I only remember using my PFD under my mattress to keep me from rolling out on deck in heavy seas.

OneEighteen says :19/Jun/2008 15:37:02
When you work on deep sea tugs this is when you wear a PFD: www.flickr.com/photos/mastermariner/2247772625/sizes/l/in... Otherwise it's not a BFD. :-)

Jane is near! says :19/Jun/2008 11:23:17
hehe, that means "might" or "strength" or "power" in Russian :-) So - that's not fantastic, that you haven't seen it before. I decided not to translate this word, don't know why.. maybe, because it sounds more powerful - just like this photo! У Вас просто замечательные фотографии! (You have wonderful photos!)

OneEighteen says :19/Jun/2008 06:36:36
What's the thingy on the end mean? I haven't seen that one before.

Nice feedback from some of my favorite photographers. Thanks for the support. @ cxJeff - who knew that summer jobs led to insight? In my case a summer spent roofing in Texas taught me the wisdom of going to college.

One of the best jobs I ever had was a summer job in college. A girlfriend's dad owned a marine electrical contracting company, and being an EE major she though I might do for a quick job he had: repairing a backlog old carbon-arc searchlights. He thought it would take me all summer but I blasted through them in about 2 weeks, which meant he sent me out with a salty (in all senses of the word) journeyman electrician on various jobs around the ship channel. Doing electrical work on boats, on the water...if I had the insight I have now I might have stuck with it.
